How to map dynamically created Google Sheets in Zapier

Want a cheaper, easier alternative to Zapier? Try Make (1 month of Pro free!)

If you've ever tried to map a dynamic Google Sheet ID in Zapier and got an error, this is how to fix it.

Due to a quirk in the Google Sheets API, Zapier will make it seem like no Google Sheet columns can be found.

To fix this, you need to:

  1. Switch the worksheet selection from "Custom" to "Worksheet" then select the Google Sheet you most recently created from the list:

  1. With a worksheet selected, the fields below will reappear so you can map/fill them accordingly.

  1. Once done, simple set the Worksheet field back to "Custom". Zapier will warn you about missign fields - but this can be safely ignored. When you switch the zap on and it runs live, all the fields will be correctly mapped.
